FIRST STEPS

What to Expect as a New Client

Contact Us
The simplest way to get started is to complete the Contact Us form.  By completing this form you are simply requesting more information, you are not making any commitment.

First Phone Call
Our lead clinician will review your contact form and determine which team member will contact you based on your goals and expressed interests. The goal of this first phone call is to answer your questions and to determine next steps. If you decide to set up an appointment, we will answer any questions you may have about fees and insurance.

First Appointment
The primary purpose of your first visit is to share your goals for treatment and determine if your therapist is a good match. Your therapist will help you complete any applicable insurance forms and proceed through an intake questionnaire. Remember, all therapy is designed to meet your needs and help you reach your goals. If you decide you are not comfortable with your therapist or his/her approach, no hard feelings! We will work with you to find the best match.

We know that new situations and environments can be overwhelming, so please take a few minutes to read more about our First Visit Tips below.

Moving Forward
During your first few visits, you will work with your therapist to determine a treatment plan. Your therapist will share the chosen modalities and approach and you will work together to determine measurable goals. This plan will keep you informed about your treatment and allow you and your therapist to track your progress together. You are always encouraged to speak with your therapist about your treatment plan and any questions that you may have.

First Visit Tips

Finding Us
The Light House is conveniently located at 97 Main Street in Manchester, CT, close to exit 63 on I-84.  You will recognize The Light House by the sunny logo on our sign. We are directly across the street from Woodland Street and our parking lot and entrance are located off of Grove Street.

Parking
To access our parking lot, turn off of Main Street onto Grove Street and make an immediate left into our marked parking lot. Park in any available space. Then, look for our sunny, welcoming, yellow entrance door!

Waiting Room
As you enter the building through the yellow door, follow the sign to our welcome area. Take a seat, help yourself to a cup of coffee or a bottle of water, and wait for your therapist. Your therapist will come to meet you at the time of your appointment.

Paperwork
Please bring your license or identification as well as your insurance card, if applicable. Clients under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a legal guardian for the first visit.

Safety & Access
Masks are not required in The Light House. You are welcome to wear a mask if you prefer. If you prefer that your therapist wear a mask, please share that during your initial phone call.

Our parking lot and entrance are lit and monitored by in-house security cameras.

A ramp is available from the parking lot to the entrance and welcome area. However, several of our therapy rooms and offices are located on the 2nd floor. If stairs are a concern, please share that during your phone call so that we can schedule your sessions in the most accessible location for you.

Fees & Payment Policies
You will discuss fees during your initial phone call. We accept cash, check, and payment via Ivy Pay. Learn more on our Fees & Insurance page.
